The Sprint

Why?
During the last months I helped with many dozens of experiments, and it has been great. I had fun and learned a lot. Nevertheless, my own experiments just didn't turn. It seemed like I would never get the timing right. The first 2-4 minutes all would go well, but in the last, most important moments, I would overshoot or not rack up enough OVs. My scroll was littered with eggshells in the 50's to 60's range, and my collection of frozen hatchies grew.
Then my hubby Laemmchenxxl had the bright idea to concentrate only on the latter part, the 1-2 min where we want those eggs in the "sweet spot". Together we estimated the times it would take us to add eggs to ERs at a fast but controllable pace. The result was his first turn (after he had only done a few exps at all) right the first time he tried it. The ND didn't survive, but we knew we had found something that worked intuitively for us.

Stats and recommendations:

Number of experiments using sprint
Me: 12, Laemmchen ??

Number of Turns
Me: 6 (3 force-killed at s4, s2, s2; 2 bounced and lived - one of them lost), Laemmchen: 3 (2 force-killed, 1 lived)

Of the other 5 experiments, one died due to hourlag, one would have hatched if it hadn't died 12 sec early, one just died ^^ and 2 hatched normal in the last seconds. I think I'm getting a good feeling for when to add and when not to add. Perhaps this can get as reliable as the standard 5 min exps.

Turn Rate: 50% so far

How?

1. Get an exp egg, time it and make it bouncable, if possible. This is a quick and dirty method, your eggs will turn with hardly a minute to live, likely much less, so the risk is high that force will kill it! (killed 6/6 turns hubby & I tried with force)

2. Open tabs with half a dozen ER's you are familiar with. "Add code" is preferable to "add scroll" because it's faster. I use AoND, Jaemeia, Silvis, Pet Spa and for emergencies EDS Dragonerry and Valley Sherwood

3. Find out how long it takes to add an egg to an ER, look at the (hopefully AR'ed) view page to see how fast it goes, and continue this for all ER's. - Don't do this with your exp egg of course, use a regular! Razz Then, add about 70 sec to the time it took. This is your total exp time! You won't need more than 2-4 ER's most of the time, but it's good to have that buffer. So everyone's exp time will be different, but that's ok. My hubby works with about 4 minutes, while I run a mere 140 seconds. As long as you have the egg for a max of 90 and a minimum of 45 sec in all the ERs you want it in and its UV stats are between 30 and 70 with close to maxed OVs during that time, you should be fine.

4. Find People in NDWorld to help with ARing and catching. Wink If you have to force, assign someone to add it to EATW, EDS and Dragonnery as soon as it turns.

5. Avoid fogging unless it's rising very fast very early. (I lost my first when I fogged it as it turned and had trouble to unfog. Otherwise it might have hatched un-forced!)

Feel free to try it yourself if you like! Perhaps it's just right for Laemmchen & me, but I would love to hear from your experiences.

Ive been so frustrated with my "older" ND experiments,I tried & tried to get a REAL MENTOR(maybe one WITH an ND themselves)??!!
I couldnt helpmyself..I did my first ND try this year..no,ut wasnt a success, but it might have been if MY part of things had been more "correctly" & (always double-check everything before it goes live) !!!
Please, please theres got to be an ND just for ME out there,if only I knew the "big clue"!! Question

I have just realized that my first try for ND was late 2010,which doesnt say much for me,as Ive yet to get one...but I did have an egg "turn" but...*sigh* it didnt make it.
Im back this year & determined to try until I either figure out whats wrong,or GET an ND with the help of other experimenters,& this time Im listening to everything told to me...whether its during experiment time,or just a tip from somebody...any/ALL help appreciated!!'Have a new exp. in 2 days(must get exact T.O.D)!!
thx,

I've only been on DC about 3 months and have many failed attempts (they all die). One thing I am noticing with my failures and reading thru DC forums is that the 1/2 hour "lag" seems to have been removed (ND site says TOD is 7 days + 30 mins) as ALL my eggs are dying immediately at the 0 day mark instead of the 0 day - 30 min mark. Does/will this change creation methods of NDs? cuz any hints and suggestions i've found pre 2012 are not working for me. (or maybe i'm just unlucky or doing it wrong)

This has happened to me, too! Therefore I agree that the 1/2 hour "lag" seems to have been removed.
